How to Enable App Embed

If you could not see your upload fields on products listings, app embed might not be enabled.

Updated over 3 months ago

This guide will walk you through the steps to enable the 'App Embed' for the Upload Center app. This is a necessary requirement for the app to work correctly with your theme and must be enabled separately for each theme.

Initiate Setup

  • Navigate to the 'Setup' page within the Upload Center app.

  • On the 'App Embed' card, you will see the status "Waiting for Setup...".

  • Click the 'Enable' button to begin. This will redirect you to your theme's customization settings.

Activate the App Embed

  • In your theme editor, find the 'App embeds' tab or section, usually located in the left-hand sidebar.

  • Locate 'Upload Center' in the list of available app embeds.

  • Click the toggle switch next to it to turn it on (activate it).

Save Your Changes

  • Once the app embed is toggled on, click the 'Save' button, located in the upper-right corner of the theme editor, to apply the change.

Verify Setup

  • Return to the Upload Center app's 'Setup' page.

  • The 'App Embed' card should now display a green checkmark and the status 'Setup Verified'.

  • This confirms that the app embed has been successfully enabled for your theme.

Once you have completed these steps, the 'App Embed' requirement is successfully met.

Cart & Checkout Validation / Cart Transform

To ensure the Upload Center application functions correctly, it is mandatory to properly configure the Cart & Checkout Validation and Cart Transform settings. Without these specific configurations, file uploads and validation rules may be bypassed during the checkout process.

Please follow the steps below to verify your setup.

Step 1: Verify Checkout Rules Status

Navigate to the Setup dashboard within the app. Locate the Checkout rules section at the bottom of the page.

  • You must ensure that the status for Upload Center Cart Checkout Validation is set to On.

  • Similarly, ensure that Upload Center Cart Transform is also set to On.

Note: If these are turned off, the app will not be able to interact with the checkout process.

Step 2: Configure Validation Failure Behavior

You need to configure the failure behavior for both rules listed in the Checkout rules section.

1. Configure Validation: Click on the Upload Center Cart Checkout Validation rule to open the detailed settings. Inside the Rule settings, you will see a section labeled: "If the app fails or experiences a problem".

  • CRITICAL: You must ensure the checkbox labeled "Allow all customers to complete checkout" is UNCHECKED.

2. Configure Cart Transform:

  • Important: You must repeat the steps above for the Upload Center Cart Transform rule as well.

  • Click on the Upload Center Cart Transform rule and ensure the "Allow all customers to complete checkout" checkbox is also UNCHECKED.

Why is this important?

  • If Unchecked (Correct): If the app encounters an issue or validation fails (e.g., a required file is missing), the customer will be prevented from checking out. This ensures no orders are processed without the necessary files.

  • If Checked (Incorrect): If this box is checked, the validation is skipped during errors, and orders will be processed without validation. This breaks the functionality of the Upload Center
