The File Quantity Management feature empowers your customers to specify quantity values for individual files. By enabling this, you allow customers to indicate how many times a specific uploaded file should be used or printed, without needing to upload the same file multiple times.
How it works: When enabled, a quantity input field will appear next to each uploaded file on the product page.
Disabled (Default): A customer uploads a file, and it counts as a single entity.
Enabled: A customer uploads a file (e.g., a logo) and can explicitly set a quantity (e.g., "5") for that specific file.
Use Case Example: A customer is ordering custom T-shirts. They want 10 shirts with "Logo A" and 5 shirts with "Logo B". Instead of creating separate line items, they can upload both files to a single product and set the quantity for Logo A to 10 and Logo B to 5.
When you enabled this feature, the upload field seems like the following:
Understanding File Quantity & Pricing Logic
It is important to understand how this feature interacts with the cart and pricing.
Direct Price Impact: Unlike standard uploads, the quantities defined here directly determine the final order cost. The system sums up the quantities of all uploaded files to calculate the Total File Quantity.
Standard Calculation: The cart is updated automatically by multiplying the Total File Quantity by the Product Price as seen on the following example:
With Custom Pricing: If the Custom Pricing feature is active, the final amount added to the cart is calculated by multiplying the Total File Quantity by the defined Unit Price. Here is an example which file quantity and custom pricing features are enabled:
Renaming Integration: The quantity value selected by the customer is automatically available in our File Renaming rules.
Print Industry Use Case: This is essential for fulfillment workflows. By mapping the quantity to the filename, you can instantly see how many copies of a specific design need to be printed (e.g., design_x5.png) without opening the order details.
⚠️ Important Recommendation: Since the file quantity drives the total product count and price, we strongly recommend hiding the standard Shopify quantity selector on the product page when this feature is active. This prevents conflicts and avoids customer confusion between the "Number of Files" and the "Number of Products."
