How to View and Download Customer Uploads

Updated over a month ago

When a customer uploads a file with their order, you can access these files using two different methods: directly through the Order Details page or via the Upload Center dashboard

Option 1: Via Shopify Order Details

This is the fastest way to view files for a specific order.

  1. Navigate to Orders in your Shopify admin and open the specific order.

  2. Locate the line item (product) where the file was uploaded.

  3. You will see a link generated by the Upload Center app, labeled _View uploads: www....

  4. Clicking this link will take you directly to the file details and preview.

Option 2: Via Upload Center Dashboard

Use this method to see a list of all orders with uploads and perform bulk actions.

  1. On the left sidebar of your Shopify admin, click on Apps.

  2. Select Upload Center.

  3. In the app menu, navigate to the Orders tab.

What you can do on this screen:

  • View Details: See a comprehensive table including Order Numbers, Item counts, File counts, and creation dates.

  • Download Files: You can download files individually, or use the Download All button to download all files attached to an order at once (ZIP format).

  • File Renaming: If you have enabled the "File Renaming" feature in your settings, you will see that the filenames in this table are automatically structured according to your custom rules.

❓ FAQ: Why don't I see the Customer Name?

Q: Why does the "Customer" column show numbers (e.g., 75033...) instead of the customer's actual name?

A: Currently, you are seeing the Unique Customer ID instead of the name.

This is due to Shopify's strict Data Protection and Privacy (PII) policies. Shopify restricts apps from accessing sensitive personal information—like names and email addresses—unless specific and rigorous API requirements are met.

Currently: We display the Unique ID to help you identify the specific user account associated with the order without violating privacy protocols.

In the Future: We are actively working on the necessary API compliance to restore the ability to display Customer Names in this table. This feature will be added in a future update.
